Help & Getting Started

RegattaPulse

RegattaPulse gives you a live view of your club's entries at a regatta — race times, lane draws, and results as they happen. It can also send push notifications to your phone: a reminder before each of your club's races, and an alert when a result or lane is posted.

There's nothing to download from an app store. It runs in your browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it works like a normal app.

First time here?

  1. Open the link your club shared (or go to the club picker) and choose your club.
  2. Pick the regatta you want to follow.
  3. To get notifications, follow the steps below for your phone.

iPhone & iPad

On iPhone and iPad, Apple only allows web apps to send notifications after they've been added to the home screen. This takes under a minute:

  1. Open RegattaPulse in Safari. If you opened the link inside another app (WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook), use that app's menu to choose Open in Safari or Open in browser first — the steps below aren't available in in-app browsers.
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up.
  3. Scroll down the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen , then tap Add.
  4. From now on, open RegattaPulse from the new icon on your home screen.
  5. In the app, go to the Settings tab, tap Enable Notifications, and choose Allow when your phone asks.

Requires iOS 16.4 or later (released March 2023). Deleting the home-screen icon also removes your notification subscription — just repeat these steps to set it up again.

Accidentally tapped "Don't Allow"?

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app
  2. Scroll down to Apps and tap RegattaPulse
  3. Tap Notifications and turn them on

Android

Android is simpler — notifications work straight from the browser, no installation needed:

  1. Open RegattaPulse in Chrome (or Samsung Internet).
  2. Go to the Settings tab, tap Enable Notifications, and choose Allow.

Optionally, add it to your home screen for a full-screen app experience: tap the menu in Chrome, then Add to Home screen (called Install app on some phones).

If notifications were blocked earlier: tap ⋮ → Settings → Site settings → Notifications, and allow this site. Aggressive battery-saver modes on some phones can also delay notifications.

About notifications

Once enabled, you'll get:

  • A reminder before each race your club is in — you choose 10, 20, or 30 minutes ahead
  • An alert when a result is posted
  • An alert when a lane is assigned

You can change these, or switch them off, any time in the Settings tab. Notifications are only sent on race days, during racing hours.

Each device follows one club at a time — enabling notifications for a different club moves this device to that club.

Not getting notifications?

  • Check the Settings tab shows "✓ Notifications enabled" for your club
  • On iPhone, make sure you're opening the app from the home-screen icon, not a Safari tab
  • Check your phone isn't in a Focus or Do Not Disturb mode that silences notifications
  • If you deleted and re-added the home-screen icon, tap Enable Notifications again
